The Artist's Burden

I've been privileged this year to have been in rooms with people who are artists- working artists, 'side hustle' artists, 'create-in-the-privacy-of-my-room' artists, aspiring artists, and 'life-made-me-give-it-up-but-one-day-I'll-get-back-to-it' artists. I find calling myself an artist pretty difficult (as I explain in the video) but the reality is, I'm in one of those categories.

I can 100% say, however, that I'm an arts appreciationist. Being in those rooms with artists meant witnessing them dream and create paths that I believe can lead to transformation of systems. It felt spiritual. I might not be able to call myself an artists with my full chest (yet) but I do love art, and love talking about it, so that's what this video is.

The TL;DR of it is: art is much more than playing make believe on stage or throwing paint on a canvas. It's observing, capturing, persevering, and passing along a message that you recognise goes way beyond you.

Also, it's my last video for the year! Thank you all so much for embarking on this YouTube journey with me.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

See you in 2025.
